Ralf,
Since you are very interested in transforming XML files into SWF, you should take a look at Swfmill. It's also open souce. But unfortunetly not java.

MTASK is also very interesting. It's for compiling Action Scripts. Integrating jswiff with MTASK would be something very good. Creating examples showing how to integrate both would be terrific.

Thanks a lot - I know both about mtasc and swfmill. Building something like SWFML on top of JSwiff would be cool.
The only thing that sucks about mtasc is ActionScript, if you know what I mean...
Something similar (to both) will be implemented on top of JSwiff in future - just don't ask when
